Vision

The Child Neuroscience Division will be the center of excellence in mental health for children, providing comprehensive, interdisciplinary, compassionate and world class service, excellent training and relevant research.

Mission

We are committed to promote the neurological and mental health of children, through excellent training, socially responsive and comprehensive service, and relevant research, using a collegial interdisciplinary approach.

Beginnings

In 1997, the Neurodevelopmental Section was established in answer to the need for a facility where children with various neurodevelopmental disabilities and those who are neurologically impaired can be comprehensively assessed and managed, through an interdisciplinary team approach.

The Section is a part of the Child Neuroscience Division which also includes Child Neurology, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Neurosurgery, Neuropsychology, Neurodiagnostics, Neuroscience Research, and Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.

PCMC FELLOWSHIP TRAINING IN NEURODEVELOPMENTAL PEDIATRICS

Training in neurodevelopmental pediatrics incorporates the best that pediatrics, neurology and developmental pediatrics have to offer as well as the related fields of genetics, child psychiatry, and allied health.

It has a 2-pronged approach in the acceptance of trainees: A 3-year fellowship training program for pediatric residency graduates and a 2-year fellowship training for child neurology fellowship graduates.

It is the only program of its kind in the country with rotations in the following:

  • 18 months - Neurodevelopmental Pediatrics

  • 12 months - Child Neurology

  • 3 months - Neuropsychology

  • 3 months - Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

This also includes exposure to Rehabilitation Services, namely Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech/Language Therapy and Reading Clinic
